Student Advocates for Graduate Education
Annual Public Higher Education Summit &
Fall Conference 2011
At The University of California, Berkeley:
This year the U.C. Berkeley Graduate Assembly is hosting the
Summit in conjunction with a national conference for Student Advocates for
Graduate Education (SAGE). The SAGE Conference will bring together
graduate student leaders from the most competitive and influential public
institutions in the country. SAGE is a newly formed organization focused
on 1) sharing information on student and university governance and 2) working
together to affect improvements to higher education policy at a national level.
The SAGE Conference will focus on effective lobbying strategies and outreach to
policymakers, both state and national.
We would like to use this Summit
as an opportunity for students to provide feasible policy alternatives to the
higher education issues being addressed in Sacramento and DC. We want student
voices heard in the ongoing debate about ways to efficiency use funding in
order to ensure the prestige of our public institutions are not negatively
impacted.
We welcome your participation to learn about and contribute to
this important discussion.
The Higher Education Summit is open to the public, the SAGE
conference is limited to SAGE members and their constituents.

SAGE is a national graduate student coalition comprised of public universities, members of both the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the American Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU). SAGE serves as an advocate and a network for graduate students at public institutions aiming to empower graduate students to meet the challenges of graduate education and to form partnerships across universities.
SAGE is in DC March 25-30, 2011!
Each year, SAGE organizes a Conference at Washington, D.C. to advocate our legislative priorities to our federal legislators. March 2011 conference included a three day meeting and lobby and issue training workshop prior to meeting with legislators.
